Have you ever wondered how many litters of kittens a cat can have?
Well here are some basic numbers to show how fast cat populations can get out of hand.
The average number of litters a fertile cat can produce in one year is 3.
The average number of kittens in a feline litter is 4–6.
In seven years, one female cat and her offspring can theoretically produce 420,000 cats.
Only 1 in 12 of those 420,000 cats born find a home. :o(
Even if you found homes for all your cats, you are still taking away homes that other homeless cats could have had by adding to the population.

There are no excuses for your allowing a pet cat to have kittens.
Please Spay your cat!!!!
Don't let a cat suffer please spay them.
ReplyDeleteSpayed cats don't poop.
ReplyDeleteYou are really full of POOP !!!!
Deletecat piss smells bad thats they there cats in rescue !!! coz they pissed all over there old owners house !! get you kittens from a breeder who has a returns policy !!!
ReplyDeleteMost rescues have a return policy too! You don't need to go to a breeder. Please rescue. Breeders are just adding to the problem of overpopulation.
DeleteAnd Neuter!!! It takes a male and a female to make the kittens...!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy cats are gay.
ReplyDeleteGood grief! Are these people for real? Spayed cats don't poop? If cats don't poop, it's because they're sick. See a vet! Cat piss smells better if you get a cat from a breeder? Really?! What an ignorant comment! Cat piss smells if you don't clean the box regularly. Get your pets spayed and neutered and quit making such dumb excuses for not doing so. Amazing how many numb skulls there are out there...SCARY!
ReplyDeleteOnly in Lost Angeles, California, land of the fruits and nuts!
ReplyDeleteLA is the name of the shelter, not the location. This shelter is in Nova Scotia, look it up in a map, nit wit. I have never read so many ridiculous comments to a blog post. Some of you people should really visit a library soon.
ReplyDeletePerfect "Excuse" why cats were meant to have kittens: If they didn't you wouldn't have the one you love so much! Eventually they would be extinct. They were not meant to breed!! How would you like it if someone was to breed you!! Over and over again? Stray or adopted grab it up and love it!! I have a tortoiseshell cat. She was a young stray when I took her in. She's had a litter.I still have an elderly woman who emails and sends pics a few times each year of my cat's son she named Anubis. My favorite pic is of him and his friend Squirrel. :) That's another perfect "excuse" why cats have kittens. Other methods need to be used and thought of . Eventually if everyone immediately spayed their pet we would be hunting for wild and rare animals.
